We got word back from USCIS that they would approve our application as our home study is currently written (does not explicitly cover 2 of the needs), but they could not guarantee there would not be problems at the US Embassy when we are in China getting a visa for our little girl. So we need to do a home study update as we don't want to be stuck in China waiting to update paperwork so we can come home - would rather do it now.
Our social worker agreed to do the update via a phone call with both of us scheduled for tonight. Glad this part will be easy! Then a small $ fee back to USCIS for the update to be processed and our new approval to be issued.
And...we are already on day 10 of our wait for LOA. There have been so many other things going on around home with our sick dogs that these 10 days have actually gone by quickly! Although the latest charts on RQ website show that if timelines stay the way the averages have been for the last 30 days, we would not get Travel Approval to go to China until 4/5/2012 (travel is typically 1-2 weeks after approval is issued). Really hope those timelines change and we can be there for her 3rd birthday at the end of March! It's on a Monday in 2013, Mondays are typically "gotcha day" or the day you meet your child for the first time - that would be a great birthday present!
Praying things move quickly and you're there by her third birthday. That is our prayer as well. Our little girl, in Tianjin, will be 3 on March 27. We are nearly DTC, but knowing the averages, it doesn't look like we will make it. Praying things move quicker than anticipated and we will still make it! Will include you in those prayers as well, that she won't spend another birthday without her family!
