It Begins....

Very few people know the information we are about to post...

We are adopting again!

From China!

When we started our first adoption the process ended up being several years longer than we anticipated.  This time we started the paperwork and the up-front portion of the process without really sharing the news (other than with our awesome friends who agreed to write reference letters for us).

We are now ready to start sharing our journey....this is where we are so far:
1.  Signed up with home study agency and adoption agency
2.  Completed all dossier paperwork  - notarized and state certified
3.  Completed all home study visits
4.  Home study approved by home study agency and adoption agency

Next Steps:
1.  Send home study for state certification (1 week to complete)
2.  Apply for US approval with USCIS (30-60 days to complete)
3.  Finish dossier authentication (2 weeks to complete)
4.  Get logged in (2 weeks to complete)
5.  Wait......

Unlike our last adoption with China, we have not identified a particular child yet, so our timeline is unknown and no pictures to post yet.  Our current goal is to have our dossier logged in with China by the end of September.  From there we will be able to work with our agency to see waiting children with special needs on the shared list that is released every month.

We have been thinking about this for awhile - after we looked at several waiting children online and even had some medical reviews completed, but none were the right child for our family.  So, we decided to go ahead and get our paperwork in order and sign up with an agency to have access to more information and more waiting children.  We still have many questions and concerns - can we parent 2 children, how will this affect Maddux, are we ready?  Hopefully we will get answers/confirmation as we continue through the process.
